First on blog - Google Assistant Drawbacks

Every Technology and Inventions have both positive and negative, and the talk of the town "Google Assitant" is not out of the box under this category.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai introduced the next-gen technology "Google Assistant" which drove many exciting waves all over the world. This User-friendly technology helps in making your work less and acts as a virtual assistant.

Coming out of the lame light and checking the cons, even this invention has the certain number of disadvantages.

If the user was starting from search, then this seems much more like texting or chatting with a knowledgeable user or organization, however, it is geared to the brand’s devices and chiefly the new ones. The kinds of data that it collects are going to be used to fine-tune their marketing and advertising most likely. Since they are supplying the information, they can lean toward supportive sources. That takes the filter bubble to a new level.
It is not going to try to change anyone’s mind about issues or bring them up to date on difficult concepts, but simply answer their queries and do some simple tasks. That is not to say that it could not be hooked into a larger system that went across the various vendors to provide some standard benefits that improve over time, but it begins competitively since it is up against other label’s gadgets. This is already a dominant name in the sector so the issue becomes how others are going to be able to find a niche, and there is a track record of other services that have come and gone over the years so the users cannot get too attached.

The advent of Google Assistant, first and foremost, affects consumers in the Google ecosystem. Smartphone users who purchase an eligible Android phone, or fans of smart home devices like Google Home, will be able to use Google Assistant to stay more connected and automate many parts of their daily lives. A single Google Home with Google Assistant can recognize multiple users' questions or commands, provide proactive assistance, and offer hands-free phone calls. The Google Assistant can also push visual responses from a Google Home request to a user's smartphone or certainly connected televisions and smart displays, while also being able to stream music.

However, being that Google Assistant works with SmartThings, and is also available on the iPhone and in some Android Auto-enabled vehicles, the technology has a pretty broad reach. Users can even link a Chromecast device to their Google Assistant.

Developers will also be affected by Google Assistant, as it opens up a whole new realm of possibilities for AI-powered services. Google has also released a Google Assistant SDK, aimed at hardware vendors and developers who can use it to integrate Google Assistant into their products.

Other smart home device manufacturers will also be affected by Google Assistant, as it adds another major player to the market. Amazon Alexa, despite its strong lead with the Amazon Echo and Dot, is facing major competition in home automation from Google Home as the ecosystem continues to grow.

Everyone can have a Virtual Assistant - Google Update

Google Assistant is Google's voice-controlled smart assistant. It's was originally an upgrade or extension of Google Now - designed to be personal - while expanding on Google's existing "OK Google" voice controls.

Originally, Google Now smartly pulled out relevant information for you: it knew where you work, and it knew your meeting locations and travel plans, the sports teams you liked, and what interested you so that Now could present you with personal information that mattered. Google has long killed the Google Now brand, but Assistant very much lives in the same space but fuses these personalized elements with a wide range of voice control.

The "OK Google" or "Hey, Google" side covers voice commands, voice searching, and voice-activated device control, letting you do things like sending messages, check appointments and so on your Android device, just like Apple's Siri on an iPhone or iPad, but reaching far beyond that, with a bot-centric AI experience, designed to give you conversational interactions.

Continued Conversation that means you don't have to say "Hey Google" for follow-up requests. Google Assistant will also work out when you're talking to it versus other people in the room.

Multiple Actions is also a new capability that enables you to ask for multiple things at the same time. This says Google, is rather difficult - in linguistics it is called coordination reduction. Mastering requests like this are probably what will power Google Assistant ahead of rivals.

Also, a new Pretty Please mode for Google Assistant will help ensure everyone in your household is saying "please" and "thank you". When enabled, it responds positively when you say either of those phrases.

Pretty Please can be enabled for specific members of your household so you can encourage your kids to be polite, or you can just play a trick on your spouse as they're setting a timer for dinner without their manners.

Because Google Assistant knows you and understands context, it can react in an informed or smart way. That's important as Assistant spreads its wings because it gives voice control a lot more power and moves it on from only reacting to specific phrases or commands.

Google has said that six new voices are coming to Google Assistant during 2018. One of the voices is singer-songwriter John Legend.

In the future, Google even says that Assistant will be able to call and book appointments for you. Really cool isn't it? let's wait for the official launch to experience more.

SEO indexing is not a big deal anymore!

There are many tools available to help you determine if a site is being indexed.
Indexing is, at its core, a page-level process. In other words, search engines read pages and treat them individually.

A quick way to check if a page is being indexed by Google is to use the site: operator with a Google search. Entering just the domain, as in my example below, will show you all of the pages Google has indexed for the domain. You can also enter a specific page URL to see if that individual page has been indexed.

If your site or page is not being indexed, the most common culprit is the meta robots tag being used on a page or the improper use of disallowing in the robots.txt file.

Both the meta tag, which is on the page level and the robots.txt file provide instructions to search engine indexing robots on how to treat content on your page or website.

The difference is that the robots meta tag appears on an individual page, while the robots.txt file provides instructions for the site as a whole. On the robots.txt file, however, you can single out pages or directories and how the robots should treat these areas while indexing.

Always keep in mind your site has to be indexed in order to be ranked. If search engines can’t find or read your content, how can they evaluate and rank it? So be sure to prioritize checking your site’s indexability when you’re performing an SEO audit.

India market in the hands of digital?

In India, Digital Marketing started to get visible around 2010. With the entry of eCommerce players like Snapdeal & Flipkart, the digital marketing arena started to pick. The industry growth between 2010 and 2017 has been tremendous. Various figures on the internet about Digital Marketing in India peg the growth at 25% to 40% on an annual basis.

Coming to what is the future of Digital marketing in India? Digital Marketing will remain to be a robust growing industry at least for next 5 years. There are a lot of reasons as to why I believe the industry is poised to grow at a staggering pace.

To begin with, see below a research report from Forester Research. The report which came out in Feb 2017 shows that India will be the fastest growing online retail country in the Asia Pacific. Further, it says that India should grow at a staggering 31% per annum for next 5 years.

Indian’s are one of the leading nations when it comes to the time spent on social media, says a research report from Techinasia.com.
Indians spend around 4.4 hours in a day on the internet through their laptop/desktops and 3.1 hours through their mobile devices. With such a large an amount of time being spent on the internet, it becomes a massive platform for using digital marketing.

More and more brands are shifting their marketing budgets towards digital marketing. The offline marketing avenues are no longer preferred. This shift is bound to happen more in the coming years. As more and more companies/brands work towards digital marketing, the industry is bound to grow at the significant rate.

Snapchat Rolls Out New Update

Snapchat creators who are either part of Snapchat’s Official Stories program or have large followings on the platform will start seeing “a slew of view count and demographic analytics on their Snapchat profile” such as data on total views, unique viewers, time spent watching, audience demographics, and more.

While TechCrunch reports that this new program will include “tens of thousands” of creators, a spokesperson from Snap Inc. declined to specify what criteria Snap will actually use when deciding which influencers outside of the Official Stories program will be given access to the new analytics tool.

Snapchat released a new version of its Snap Map that’s available to anyone to view on the web. The new web-based map features public stories posted from locations seen on an overhead Snap Map and a heat map that shows activity from users by relative volume in each area. Users can browse the map and click on any available bubble to view the public story posted from that place.

TechCrunch notes that Snapchat was careful not to include individual user location or information on the web-based version of Snap Maps in respect of personal privacy. The new web-based map strictly features contributions to public stories.

Twitter Introduces Full Archive Search With Premium API

The microblogging platform Twitter announces a premium product for developers that allows them to access the full Twitter archive.

What this means, developers could access every single tweet Twitter has - going all the way back to the first-ever tweet from @Jack (Jack Dorsey) in 2006.

Previously, this level of access was only available to enterprise API customers, but Twitter is changing that to make the feature available to a wider community.

Previously, non-enterprise customers could only choose from the standard (“public”) API that provides access to the last 7 days of tweets, or the more recently introduced Premium API (the Search Tweets API) that allows them to access any tweets from the last 30 days.

Here, Twitter launched what it calls "Full-archive Search," which offers access to all tweets from all time.

According to Twitter, it works similarly like the 30-day endpoint since it offers features like the ability to pull more tweets per request than the standard API. But with the addition to support more complex queries, higher rate limits, and other advanced features.

Using the Full-archive Search, customers also gain access to the premium account dashboard where they can monitor usage, manage the bill and invite other team members to collaborate.

With the ability to access everything Twitter has, businesses should be able to learn how their consumer's sentiments have changed over time or analyzing what people have been saying about their products and services spanning more than a decade.

As for Twitter, besides making revenue, the feature can also provide the company with new ways to surface historical tweets in an easier fashion than Twitter’s own advanced search features.

It's also part of a larger effort on Twitter to overhaul its API platform and vision for its developer community announced in 2017.

To get developers' attention, Twitter allows them to experiment with the API in a free sandbox environment where they can test things out with up to 50 requests per month. When they are ready, the can commit to paying the subscription package that is priced based on the number of requests per month.

The Full-archive Search endpoint is available in beta to all developers, starting February 2nd, 2018, making it the first time anyone could access this data outside of the annual contracts and pricing commitments Twitter required from enterprise customers.
